Choosing the right fuel
Ifyourvehicleisaflexiblefuelvehicle(FFV),useonlyUNLEADED
FUELandFUELETHANOL(Ed75–Ed85).
Ifyourvehicleisnotaflexiblefuelvehicle(FFV),thenonlyuse
UNLEADEDfuelorUNLEADEDfuelblendedwithamaximumof10%
ethanol.Donotusefuelethanol(E85),diesel,methanol,leadedfuelor
anyotherfuel.
Theuseofleadedfuelisprohibitedbylawandcoulddamageyour
vehicle.
Yourvehiclewasnotdesignedtousefuelorfueladditiveswithmetallic
compounds,includingmanganese-basedadditives.
Note:Useofanyfuelotherthanthoserecommendedmaycause
powertraindamage,alossofvehicleperformance,andrepairsmaynot
becoveredunderwarranty.
Octane recommendations
Yourvehicleisdesignedtouse“Regular”unleadedgasolinewithapump
(R+M)/2octaneratingof87.Somestationsofferfuelspostedas
“Regular”withanoctaneratingbelow87,particularlyinhighaltitude
areas.Fuelswithoctanelevelsbelow87arenotrecommended.
Donotbeconcernedifyourengine

sometimesknockslightly.However,
ifitknocksheavilyundermost
drivingconditionswhileyouare
(R+M)/2 METHOD
usingfuelwiththerecommended
octanerating,seeyourauthorizeddealertopreventanyenginedamage.
FFVengine(ifequipped)
Ifyourvehicleisflexfuelcapable,itisdesignedtouseFuelEthanol
(Ed75–Ed85),“Regular”unleadedgasolineoranymixtureofthetwo
fuels.
UseofotherfuelssuchasFuelMethanolmaycausepowertrain
damage,alossofvehicleperformance,andyourwarrantymaybe
invalidated.
ItisbestnottoalternaterepeatedlybetweengasolineandE85.Ifyoudo
switchfuels,itisrecommendedthatyouaddasmuchfuelas
possible—atleasthalfatank.Donotaddlessthanfivegallons(18.9L)
whenrefueling.Youshoulddrivethevehicleimmediatelyafterrefueling
foratleast5miles(8km)toallowthevehicletoadapttothechangein
ethanolconcentration.
