Fuse Link Kit Cancels: IIK 383K-35-3 IIK 383K-35-4 7-98 Installation Instructions Part No. 307566-751 NOTE: Read the entire instruction before starting the installation. This symbol indicates a change since the last issue. SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS Installing and servicing heating equipment can be hazardous due to gas and electrical components. Only trained personnel should install or service heating equipment.
Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance functions such as cleaning and replacing filters. All other operations should be performed by trained service personnel. When working on heating equipment, observe precautions in the literature, on tags, and on labels attached to the unit. Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and work gloves. Have a fire extinguisher available. Recognize safety information. This is the safety-alert symbol. When you see this symbol on the furnace and in instructions or manuals, be alert to the potential for personal injury. Understand the signal words DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION. These words are used with the safety-alert symbol. DANGER identifies the most serious hazards which will result in severe personal injury or death. WARNING signifies a hazard which could result in personal injury or death. CAUTION is used to identify unsafe practices which would result in minor personal injury or product and property damage. The fuse link kit contains the following items: Fuse link assembly Fuse link label Installation Instructions INSTALLATION 1. Turn off electrical supply to furnace. 2. Remove furnace control access door. 3. Disconnect fuse link from furnace limit switch. (See Fig. 1.) 4. Cut old fuse link and connector from wire. 5. Strip 1/4-in. of insulation from end of wire where old fuse link was removed. 6. Insert stripped end of furnace wire where old fuse link was removed into end of new fuse link assembly. Crimp connector. 7. Connect fuse link to furnace limit switch. (See Fig. 1.) 8. Install label provided in kit on furnace cell panel alongside of limit switch. 9. Turn on electrical supply and start furnace. 10. Observe furnace operation. Determine cause for fuse link opening and correct problem. 11. Replace control access door. FUSIBLE LINK LIMIT SWITCH Turn off gas and electrical supplies to unit before beginning any installation or modification. Follow operating instructions on label attached to furnace. Failure to follow this warning could result in personal injury or death. This instruction covers the installation of the fuse link kit Part No. 307566-751 in dedicated upflow or dedicated downflow noncondensing, induced-combustion furnaces. This kit is not for use in any model that can be installed horizontally. The kit applies to the following models: 383KAD, 383KAV, 393AAV, 394GAD, 394GAW, 394GAZ, 394HAD, 394JAW, 394JAZ, 395AAW, 395BAW, 395CAV, 396GAD, 396GAW, 396GAZ, 396HAD, 396JAW, 396JAZ, 397G, 397H, 480BAV, 58DFA, 58DP, 58DR, 58DRC, 58GP, 58GS, 58GSC, 58GFA, 58SC, 58SE, 58SS, 58SSB, 58PAV, 58WAV, 58YAV, GB1AAV, and PG8UAA.
