STARTING AND OPERATING
When HDC is properly enabled, the message “HILL 5th=7.5mph(12km/h)
DESCENTCONTROL”willappearintheEVICandthe
light in the switch will be illuminated. HDC will auto-
REVERSE=1mph(1.6km/h)
matically apply the brakes to control downhill speed NEUTRAL=2.5mph(4km/h)
whennecessary.HDChasthecapabilitytosenseterrain
andwillonlyactivatewhenthevehicleisdescendinga
hill.Itwillusuallynotactivateonlevelground.
HDCalsohasthecapabilitytosenseroughterrain,and
will automatically adjust to a slightly slower set speed
[about0.3mph(0.5km/h)thannormal.]
PARK=HDCwillnotfunction
TheHDCspeedmaybeadjustedbythedrivertosuitthe
driving conditions. The speed corresponds to the trans-
missiongearselected.
HDCoperationcanbeoverriddenwithbrakeapplication
toslowthevehicledownbelowtheHDCcontrolspeed.
Conversely,ifmorespeedisdesiredduringHDCcontrol,
the accelerator pedal will increase vehicle speed in the
usualmanner.Wheneitherthebrakeortheacceleratoris
released,HDCwillcontrolthevehiclebacktotheorigi-
nalsetspeed.
1st=1mph(1.6km/h)
2nd=2.5mph(4km/h)
3rd=4mph(6km/h)
4th=5.5mph(9km/h)
