TheRCM(restraintscontrolmodule)monitorsitsowninternalcircuits
andthesupplementalairbagelectricalsystemwiring(includingthe
impactsensors,thesystemwiring,theairbagsystemreadinesslight,the
airbagbackuppowerandtheairbagignitors).

areadinesslightandtone
adiagnosticmodule
andtheelectricalwiringwhichconnectsthecomponents
Severalairbagsystemcomponentsgethotafterinflation.Donot
touchthemafterinflation.
Iftheairbaghasdeployed,theairbagwillnotfunction
againandmustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheairbagisnot
replaced,theunrepairedareawillincreasetheriskofinjuryina
collision.
Determining if the system  is operational
TheSRSusesareadinesslightintheinstrumentclusteroratoneto
indicatethestatusofthesystem.RefertoAirbagreadinesssectionin
theInstrumentclusterchapter.Routinemaintenanceoftheairbagis
notrequired.
Adifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneormoreofthefollowing:
Thereadinesslightwilleither
flashorstaylit.
Thereadinesslightwillnot
illuminateimmediatelyafter
ignitionisturnedon.
Aseriesoffivebeepswillbeheard.Thetonepatternwillrepeat
periodicallyuntiltheproblemand/orlightarerepaired.
Ifanyofthesethingshappen,evenintermittently,havetheSRSserviced
atyourdealershiporbyaqualifiedtechnicianimmediately.Unless
serviced,thesystemmaynotfunctionproperlyintheeventofa
collision.
