drivingathighspeedscausessudden
enginebraking,whichisdangerous.
Thesuddenchangeintirespeedcould
causethetirestoskid.Thiscouldlead
tolossofvehiclecontrolandan
accident.
Neutral position
Besuretoleavetheshiftleverin1or
Rpositionandsettheparkingbrake
whenleavingthevehicleunattended:
Otherwisethevehiclecouldmoveand
causeanaccident.
Theshiftpatternofthetransaxleis
conventional,asshown.
Depresstheclutchpedalallthewaydown
whileshifting;thenreleaseitslowly.
Asafetyfeaturepreventsaccidental
shiftingfrom5toR(reverse).Theshift
levermustbeputinneutralbeforebeing
shiftedtoR.
CAUTION
Keepyourfootofftheclutchpedal
l
exceptwhenshiftinggears.Also,
don'tusetheclutchtoholdthe
vehicleonanupgrade.Ridingthe
clutchwillcauseneedlessclutch
wearanddamage.
Makesurethevehiclecomestoa
l
completestopbeforeshiftingtoR.
ShiftingtoRwhilethevehicleisstill
movingmaydamagethetransaxle.
NOTE
IfshiftingtoRisdifficult,shiftback
intoneutral,releasetheclutchpedal,
andtryagain.
