Automatic transmission fluid and filter should be
changedasfollows:

Using a transmission fluid other than the manu-
facturer’s recommended fluid may cause deterio-
rationintransmissionshiftqualityand/ortorque
converter shudder. Using a transmission fluid
otherthanthatrecommendedbythemanufacturer
will result in more frequent fluid and filter
changes. Refer to “Fluids, Lubricants, and Genu-
ine Parts” in “Maintaining Your Vehicle” for fur-
therinformation.
Dirt and water in the transmission can cause
serious damage. To prevent dirt and water from
enteringthetransmissionaftercheckingorreplen-
ishingfluid,makecertainthatthedipstickcapis
re-seatedproperly.

Maintenance Schedule B — Every 60,000 miles
(100000km)changefluidandfilterunderthefollowing
conditions:

Police,taxi,limousine,commercialtypeoperation,or
trailertowingwherethevehicleisdrivenregularlyfor
morethan45minutesofcontinuousoperation.

SpecialAdditives
Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is an engineered
productanditsperformancemaybeimpairedbysupple-
mental additives. Therefore, do not add any fluid addi-
tives to the transmission. The only exception to this
