roadsurfacesonly.Drivinginthe4LOWpositionondry
hard surfaced roads may cause increased tire wear and
damagetodrivelinecomponents.
NOTE: The Quadra-Trac Isystem is not appropriate
forconditionswhereLOWrangeisrecommended.Refer
to“Off-RoadDrivingTips”inthissection.

TheQuadra-TracIItransfercaseisfullyautomaticinthe
normaldriving4HImode.TheQuadra-TracIItransfer
caseprovidesthreemodepositions—fourwheeldrive
highrange,neutral,andfourwheeldrivelowrange.
Whenoperatingyourvehiclein4LOW,theenginespeed
isapproximatelythreetimesthatofthe4HIpositionata
givenroadspeed.Takecarenottooverspeedtheengine
anddonotexceed25mph(40km/h).
This transfer case is fully automatic in the 4 HI mode.
This transfer case divides engine torque almost evenly
with48percentofenginetorquetothefrontaxleand52
percent of engine torque to the rear axle. When speed
differencesareincreasedbetweenthefrontandreardrive
Properoperationoffourwheeldrivevehiclesdependson
tires of equal size, type, and circumference on each
wheel.Any difference will adversely affect shifting and
causedamagetothetransfercase.
