Turnthejackhandleclockwiseuntilthetireisraisedtoitsoriginal
positionunderneaththevehicle.Theefforttoturnthejackhandle
increasessignificantlyasthetirecontactstheframe.Thesparetire
carrierwillratchetwhenthetireisinthefullystowedposition.The
sparetirecarrierhasabuilt-inratchetfeaturethatwillnotallowyou
toovertighten.Ifthesparetirecarrierratchetswithverylittleeffort,
takethevehicletoyourauthorizedMazdadealerforassistanceat
yourearliestconvenience.Ifyourvehicleisequippedwithatrailer
hitch,guidethetirewithonehand;keeptherearofthetiretilted
downuntilthetireclearsthebumper.

Checkthatthetireliesflatagainsttheframeassembly.Pushagainst
thetiretomakesureitistightlyseatedunderthevehicle.Loosen
andretighten,ifnecessary.(Makesurethatthetiredoesnotcontact
thebumper.)
WARNING: Failuretostowthesparetiremayresultinthe
failureofthewinchcableandthelossofthesparetire.Aloose
tireonthehighwayisaverydangerousobjecttootherpeople
ontheroad.Checktobesurethetireisfirmlymounted;gotoa
dealertohaveitre-mountedifyouhaveanydoubtaboutspare
tiresecurity.
7.
Repeatthistightnesscheckprocedurewhenservicingthesparetire
pressure(everysixmonths),oratanytimethatthesparetireis
disturbedthroughserviceofothercomponents.

Retightenthelugnutstothespecifiedtorqueat500miles(800km)
afteranywheeldisturbance(tirerotation,changingaflattire,wheel
removal,etc.).
