Refueling
Fuelvaporburnsviolentlyandafuelfirecancausesevere
injuries.Tohelpavoidinjuriestoyouandothers:
Readandfollowalltheinstructionsonthepumpisland;
Turnoffyourenginewhenyouarerefueling;
Donotsmokeifyouarenearfuelorrefuelingyourvehicle;
Keepsparks,flamesandsmokingmaterialsawayfromfuel;
Stayoutsideyourvehicleanddonotleavethefuelpumpunattended
whenrefuelingyourvehicle—thisisagainstthelawinsomeplaces;
Keepchildrenawayfromthefuelpump;neverletchildrenpumpfuel.
Usethefollowingguidelinestoavoidelectrostaticchargebuild-upwhen
fillinganungroundedfuelcontainer:
Placeapprovedfuelcontainerontheground.
DONOTfillafuelcontainerwhileitisinthevehicle(includingthe
cargoarea).
Keepthefuelpumpnozzleincontactwiththefuelcontainerwhile
filling.
DONOTuseadevicethatwouldholdthefuelpumphandleinthefill
position.
Fuel Filler Cap
Yourfueltankfillercaphasanindexeddesignwitha1/4turnon/off
feature.
Whenfuelingyourvehicle:

4.Turnthefillercapclockwiseuntilitclicksatleastonce.
Turntheengine/ignitionswitchtotheoffposition.
Carefullyturnthefillercapcounterclockwiseuntilitspinsoff.
Toinstallthecap,alignthelugsonthecapwiththethreadsonthe
Afterrefueling,ifthe“CHECKFUELCAP”indicatorcomesonandstays
onwhenyoustarttheengine,thefuelfillercapmaynotbeproperly
installed.Turnofftheengine,removethefuelfillercap,alignthecap
properlyandreinstallitsecurely.The“CHECKFUELCAP”indicator
shouldturnoffafterthreedrivingcycleswiththefuelfillercapproperly
installed.Adrivingcycleconsistsofacoldenginestart-upfollowedby
mixedcity/highwaydriving.
