ThePersonalSafetySystem௢providesanimprovedoveralllevelof

frontalcrashprotectiontofrontseatoccupantsandisdesignedtohelp

furtherreducetheriskofairbag-relatedinjuries.Thesystemisableto

analyzedifferentoccupantconditionsandcrashseveritybeforeactivating

theappropriatesafetydevicestohelpbetterprotectarangeof

occupantsinavarietyoffrontalcrashsituations.

Yourvehicle’sPersonalSafetySystem௢consistsof:

•

Driverandpassengerdual-stageairbagsupplementalrestraints.

Frontsafetybeltswithpretensioners,energymanagementretractors,

andsafetybeltusagesensors.

•

Driver’sseatpositionsensor

Frontpassengersensingsystem

“Passengerairbagoff”or“passairbagoff”indicatorlamp

Frontcrashseveritysensor.

RestraintsControlModule(RCM)withimpactandsafingsensors.

Restraintsystemwarninglightandback-uptone.

Theelectricalwiringfortheairbags,crashsensor(s),safetybelt

pretensioners,frontsafetybeltusagesensors,driverseatposition

sensor,frontpassengersensingsystem,andindicatorlights.

HowdoesthePersonalSafetySystemிwork?

ThePersonalSafetySystem௢canadaptthedeploymentstrategyofyour

vehicle’ssafetydevicesaccordingtocrashseverityandoccupant

conditions.Acollectionofcrashandoccupantsensorsprovides

informationtotheRestraintscontrolmodule(RCM).Duringacrash,the

RCMactivatesthesafetybeltpretensionersand/oreitheroneorboth

stagesofthedual-stageairbagsupplementalrestraintsbasedoncrash

severityandoccupantconditions.

Thefactthatthepretensionersorairbagsdidnotactivateforbothfront

seatoccupantsinacollisiondoesnotmeanthatsomethingiswrongwith

thesystem.Rather,itmeansthePersonalSafetySystem௢determined

theaccidentconditions(crashseverity,beltusage,etc.)werenot

appropriatetoactivatethesesafetydevices.Frontairbagsaredesigned

toactivateonlyinfrontalandnear-frontalcollisions(notrollovers,side

impactsorrearimpacts)unlessthecollisioncausessufficient
