UNDERSTANDINGYOURINSTRUMENTPANEL
NOTE:
To ensure proper compass calibration, make
sure the compass variance is properly set before manu-
allycalibratingthecompass.RefertoVarianceMap.
ToPutIntoaCalibrationMode
StarttheengineandleavethetransmissionintheP(Park)
position. Set the display to “Compass/Temperature.”
Press and hold the C/T button for approximately 5
secondstochangethedisplaytocompassvariancemode;
holdingthebuttonforanadditional5secondswillflash
the“CAL”symbolindicatingcompasscalibrationmode.
When the “CAL” indicator is flashing, complete one or
more360degreeturns,under5mph(8km/h),inanarea
freefromlargemetalobjectsorpowerlines.The“CAL”
indicator will turn off and the compass will function
normally.
Compass/TemperatureButton
Compass Variance is the difference between magnetic
northandgeographicnorth.Insomeareasofthecountry,
thedifferencebetweenmagneticandgeographicnorthis
greatenoughtocausethecompasstogivefalsereadings.
Ifthisoccurs,thecompassvariancemustbesetaccording
totheCompassVarianceMap.
