This light informs you of a problem with the
ElectronicThrottleControl(ETC)WarningLight—
onbrieflyasabulbcheck.Ifthelightdoesnotcomeon
during starting, have the system checked by an autho-
rizeddealer.
Electronic Throttle Control System. If a prob-
lemisdetectedwhiletheengineisrunning,the
lightwilleitherstayonorflashdependingon
the nature of the problem. Cycle the ignition key when
thevehicleissafelyandcompletelystoppedandthegear
selector is placed in the P (Park) position. The light
should turn off. If the light remains on with the engine
running,yourvehiclewillusuallybedrivable,however,
seeyourdealerforserviceassoonaspossible.
NOTE: “Two-footed”drivingisnotrecommended.In-
advertently driving with the brake pedal depressed for
more than a few seconds when the accelerator pedal is
heldinplacecancausetheETCsystemtoassumethata
stuckacceleratorpedalhasoccurred.Thiswillresultina
loss of power. Returning the brake pedal to its normal
positionormovingtheacceleratorpedalwillcancelthis
condition.Ifthedepressedbrakepedalandtheconstant
acceleratorpedalpositionaremaintainedforanextended
periodoftime,theETCwarninglightwillbegintoflash
and continue until the ignition switch is cycled in the
samemannerasabove.
Ifthelightcontinuestoflashwhentheengineisrunning,
immediate service is required and you may experience
reducedperformance,anelevated/roughidle,orengine
stallandyourvehiclemayrequiretowing.Thelightwill
comeonwhentheignitionisfirstturnedonandremain
