Towing Tips
The transmission fluid and filter should be changed if
youREGULARLYtowatrailerformorethan45minutes
of continuous operation. Refer to  the “Maintenance
Schedule”inSection8ofthismanualforpropermainte-
nanceintervals.
Before setting out on a trip, practice turning, stopping
and backing the trailer in an area away from heavy
traffic.
AutomaticTransmission
The DRIVE range can be selected when towing. How-
ever, if frequent shifting occurs while in this range, the
TOW/HAULmode(ifequipped),oralowergearrange,
shouldbeselected.
NOTE: Checkthetransmissionfluidlevelbeforetowing
(4.7Land5.7Lengines).
ElectronicSpeedControl—IfEquipped

Donotuseinhillyterrainorwithheavyloads.
NOTE: UsingtheTOW/HAULmode(ifequipped),ora
lower gear range while operating the vehicle under
heavy operating conditions, will improve performance
andextendtransmissionlifebyreducingexcessiveshift-
ingandheatbuildup.Thisactionwillalsoprovidebetter
enginebraking.
Whenusingthespeedcontrol,ifyouexperiencespeed
dropsgreaterthan10mph(16km/h),disengageuntil
youcangetbacktocruisingspeed.
Usespeedcontrolinflatterrainandwithlightloadsto
maximizefuelefficiency.
