pretensioners forfrontoutboard
occupants. Althoughthesafetybelt
pretensioners cannotbeseen,they
arepartofthesafetybeltassembly.
Theycanhelptightenthesafety
beltsduringtheearlystagesofa
moderate toseverefrontalor
nearfrontalcrashifthethreshold
conditions forpretensioner
activation aremet.And,ifthe
vehiclehassideimpactairbags,
safetybeltpretensioners canhelp
tightenthesafetybeltsinasideor
rearcrash.
Adjusttheheightsothatthe
shoulder portionofthebeltis
centered ontheshoulder.Thebelt
shouldbeawayfromthefaceand
neck,butnotfallingofftheshoulder.
Impropershoulder beltheight
adjustment couldreducethe
effectiveness ofthesafetybeltin
acrash.
Pushdownonthereleasebutton(A)
andmovetheheightadjuster tothe
desiredposition. Theadjustercan
bemovedupbypushinguponthe
shoulder beltguide.
Pretensioners workonlyonce.Ifthe
pretensioners activate inacrash,
Theywillneedtobereplaced, and
probably othernewpartsforthe
vehicle's safetybeltsystem.
