SAFETY MEASURES — Installation
and Maintenance
Insist on  the use  of personal  floatation
devices,  approved  by  the  U.S.  Coast
Guard, by all passengers  when boating
conditions are  hazardous, and  by  chil-
dren and nonswimmers at all times.
The   outboard  must   be   correctly  in-
stalled.  Failure  to  correctly  install  the
outboard could  result  in serious  injury,
death or property damage.  We strongly
recommend that your Dealer install your
outboard to ensure proper installation.
Proceed  with caution  and  at  very  low
speed  in shallow  water.  Grounding  or
abrupt stops may result in personal inju-
ry or property damage. Also be alert  for
debris and objects in the water.
Do not overpower your boat by using an
engine that exceeds the horsepower in-
dicated  on  the   boat’s  capacity  plate.
Overpowering  could  result   in  loss  of
control.  If  your  boat  has  no  capacity
plate, contact your  Dealer or the boat’s
manufacturer.

underwater  obstructions  may  result in
loss of control and personal injury.

use Evinrude/Johnson Genuine Parts or
parts with equivalent characteristics, in-
cluding type, strength and material.  Us-
ing  substandard  parts  could  result  in
injury or product malfunction.
Respect no wake zones,  rights of other
water users and the environment. As the
"skipper" and  owner of  a boat  you are
responsible for  damage to  other  boats
caused by the wake of  your boat. Allow
no one to throw refuse overboard.
Only perform service  procedures which
are detailed in this Operator’s Guide. At-
