CAUTIO N!
Damage to the fuel system or emission control sys-
tem could resu lt from usin g an improp er fuel cap
(gas cap). A poorly fittin g cap could let impurities
into the fuel system . Also, a poorly fittin g after-
mark et cap can cause the MIL (Malfu nction Indicator
Ligh t) to illu minate, due to fuel vap ors escap ing from
the system .
To avoid fuel spillage and overfillin g, do not “top
off” the fuel tan k after fillin g.
NOTE: When the fuel nozzle “clicks” or shu ts off, the
fuel tank is full.

Never have any smoking materials lit in or near
the veh icle when the gas cap is rem oved or the
tan k filled .
CAUTIO N!
A poorly fittin g gas cap may cause the Malfu nction
Indicator Ligh t to turn on.
Never add fuel when the engin e is running. This is
in violation of most state and fed eral fire regu la-
tion s and will cause the malfu nction indicator
ligh t to turn on.
