STARTING AND OPERATING
During off-road use, loss of traction can temporarily
defeatthesystemandcausethewarninglighttoillumi-
nate. Turn the ignition OFF and ON again to restore
Anti-LockBrakeSystemfunction.
WARNING!
Significantoverorunder-inflationoftires,ormixing
sizesoftiresorwheelsonthevehiclecanleadtoloss
ofbrakingeffectiveness.
WARNING!
PumpingoftheAnti-LockBrakeswilldiminishtheir
effectivenessandmayleadtoanaccident.Pumping
makesthestoppingdistancelonger.Justpressfirmly
onyourbrakepedalwhenyouneedtoslowdownor
stop.
TheAnti-LockBrakeSystemconductsalowspeedself-
testatabout12mph(20km/h).Ifforanyreason,your
footisonthebrakewhenthevehiclereaches12mph(20
km/h), this check will be delayed until 25 mph (40
km/h).
The Anti-Lock Brake System pump motor runs during
the self-test, and during an ABS stop, to provide the
regulatedhydraulicpressure.Themotorpumpmakesa
lowhummingnoiseduringoperation,thisisnormal.
