Warninglightsandgaugescanalertyoutoavehicleconditionthatmay
becomeseriousenoughtocauseexpensiverepairs.Awarninglightmay
illuminatewhenaproblemexistswithoneofyourvehicle’sfunctions.
Manylightswillilluminatewhenyoustartyourvehicletomakesurethe
bulbworks.Ifanylightremainsonafterstartingthevehicle,have
therespectivesysteminspectedimmediately.

Yourvehicleisequippedwitha
computerthatmonitorstheengine’s
emissioncontrolsystem.This
systemiscommonlyknownasthe
OnBoardDiagnosticsSystem(OBDII).TheOBDIIsystemprotectsthe
environmentbyensuringthatyourvehiclecontinuestomeet
governmentemissionstandards.TheOBDIIsystemalsoassiststhe
servicetechnicianinproperlyservicingyourvehicle.
The
indicatorlightilluminateswhentheignitionisfirstturnedtothe
RUNpositiontocheckthebulb.Ifitcomesonaftertheengineisstarted,
oneoftheengine’semissioncontrolsystemsmaybemalfunctioning.The
lightmayilluminatewithoutadriveabilityconcernbeingnoted.Thevehicle
willusuallybedrivableandwillnotrequiretowing.
