Use  only   brak e  flu id  that  has  been   in  a  tigh tly
closed  contain er  (both  as to  bottles  and  the  master
cylin der  rem ain ing  covered ) to  avoid   contam ina-
tion  from  foreign   matter  or moistu  re. Brak e flu id,
unlik e  many  oth er  flu ids,  actu ally  absorb s  mois-
ture  from  the  air. This  low ers  the boilin  g poin t  of
the  flu id  and   may   cause  it  to  boil   durin g  hard
brak ing  and  create a soft  pedal  pressu  re resistan  ce
as  the   gas  compresses.    This  condition    does   not
apply  adequate   pressu  re to  the  brak es to  function
prop erly.

It  is important   that   the  prop er lubricant   is  used  in  the
transm ission   to  assu re   optimum   transm  ission   perfor-
mance.  Use only manu  factu rer’s recom mend ed transm is-
sion  fluid.   Refer  to   “Fluids,  Lubricants,    and   Genu ine
Parts”   in  this  section   for  the   correct   fluid  typ e.  It  is
important   that  the   transm ission  fluid  be  maintained    at
the  prescribed  level  using  the  recom mend ed fluid.
