THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING  YOUR VEHICLE
The seat  belts  are designed   to protect  you  in many  typ es
of  collisions.   The  front  airbags   will   not  deploy   in  all
frontal  collisions.  Front   airbag  deploym ent  will  depend
on severity   and  typ e of collision.

If  you r veh icle is  equipped    with  sid e airb ags,  do
not  attach   cuphold  ers  or any  oth er  objects   on  or
arou nd  the  door.  The  inflatin  g  sid e airb ag  could
drive  the   objects  into   occupants,   causin g  seriou s
injury.
Do  not  cover  or place  item s  on the  airb ag  covers.
These  item s  may  cause  seriou  s injury   durin  g in-
flation .
If  you r vehicle  is  so  equ ipped,   the  side  airbag   on  the
crash  side of the  vehicle  is triggered  in certain  moderate-
to-severe   side  collisions.   In  certain  typ es  of  collisions,
both  the  front   and  side  airbags   may  be  triggered  . But
even  in collisions  where  the  airbags  work,  you  need  the
seat belts  to keep  you in  the right  position  for the  airbags
to protect   you prop erly.
Do  not  store  or place  item s  under  the  fron t  seats.
You may  damage   the  airb ag wirin  g harn esses.
Here  are som e simple step s you  can take  to minim ize the
risk  of harm  from  a deploying   airbag:
The front  airbags  have  a  multistage  inflator   design.  This
allow s the  airbag  to have  different  rates  of inflation   that
are based  on  collision  severity. Along  with  the  seat belts,
front  airbags  work  with   the instru  ment  panel  knee  bol-
sters  to provid  e improved   protection   for the  driver   and
front  passenger.  Side airbags   also work  with  seat belts  to
improve  occupant   protection.
