Seating and Safety Restraints
IftheSafetyCanopy
systemhasdeployed,the
SafetyCanopywillnot
functionagain.TheSafety
Canopysystem(includingthe
A,BandCpillartrim)mustbe
inspectedandservicedbyan
authorizeddealer.IftheSafety
Canopyisnotreplaced,the
unrepairedareawillincreasethe
riskofinjuryinacollision.
Determiningifthesystemisoperational
TheSRSusesareadinesslightintheinstrumentclusteroratoneto
indicatetheconditionofthesystem.RefertotheAirbagreadiness
sectionintheInstrumentClusterchapter.Routinemaintenanceofthe
airbagisnotrequired.
Anydifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneormoreofthe
following:
Thereadinesslight(samelightasforfrontairbagsystem)willeither
flashorstaylit.
Thereadinesslightwillnotilluminateimmediatelyafterignitionis
turnedon.
Aseriesoffivebeepswillbeheard.Thetonepatternwillrepeat
periodicallyuntiltheproblemandlightarerepaired.
Ifanyofthesethingshappen,evenintermittently,havetheSRSserviced
atauthorizeddealerimmediately.Unlessserviced,thesystemmaynot
functionproperlyintheeventofacollisionorrolloverevent.
Disposal of airbags and  airbag equipped vehicles (including
pretensioners)
Seeyourauthorizeddealer.AirbagsMUSTBEdisposedofbyqualified
personnel.

Seethefollowingsectionsfordirectionsonhowtoproperlyusesafety
restraintsforchildren.AlsoseeAirbagsupplementalrestraintsystem
(SRS)inthischapterforspecialinstructionsaboutusingairbags.
