Tires, Wheels and Loading
Ifyouwillbetowingatrailerfrequentlyinhotweather,hilly
conditions,atGCW,oranycombinationofthesefactors,consider
refillingyourrearaxlewithsyntheticgearlubeifnotalreadyso
equipped.RefertotheMaintenanceandSpecificationschapterfor
thelubricantspecification.Rememberthatregardlessoftherearaxle
lubeused,donottowatrailerforthefirst500miles(800km)ofa
newvehicle,andthatthefirst500miles(800km)oftowingbedone
atnofasterthan70mph(112km/h)withnofullthrottlestarts.
Afteryouhavetraveled50miles(80km),thoroughlycheckyour
hitch,electricalconnectionsandtrailerwheellugnuts.
Toaidinengine/transmissioncoolingandA/Cefficiencyduringhot
weatherwhilestoppedintraffic,placethegearshiftleverinP(Park).
Vehicleswithtrailersshouldnotbeparkedonagrade.Ifyoumust
parkonagrade,placewheelchocksunderthetrailer’swheels.
Launching or retrieving a  boat
Disconnectthewiringtothetrailerbeforebackingthetrailer
intothewater.Reconnectthewiringtothetrailerafterthe
trailerisremovedfromthewater.
Whenbackingdownarampduringboatlaunchingorretrieval:
donotallowthestaticwaterleveltoriseabovethebottomedgeof
therearbumper.
donotallowwavestobreakhigherthan6inches(15cm)abovethe
bottomedgeoftherearbumper.
Exceedingtheselimitsmayallowwatertoentervehiclecomponents:
causinginternaldamagetothecomponents.
affectingdriveability,emissionsandreliability.
Replacetherearaxlelubricantanytimetheaxlehasbeensubmergedin
water.Rearaxlelubricantquantitiesarenottobecheckedorchanged
unlessaleakissuspectedorrepairrequired.
