Afteridlingforafewseconds,
applythebrake,shiftintogearanddrive.
Note:Iftheenginedoesnotstartwithinfivesecondsonthefirsttry,
turnthekeytoOFF,wait10secondsandtryagain.Iftheenginestill
failstostart,presstheacceleratortothefloorandtryagain;thiswill
allowtheenginetocrankwiththefuelshutoffincasetheengineis
floodedwithfuel.
Using the engine block heater (if equipped)
Anengineblockheaterwarmstheenginecoolant,whichimproves
starting,warmsuptheenginefasterandallowstheheater-defroster
systemtorespondquickly.Useofanengineblockheaterisstrongly
recommendedifyouliveinaregionwheretemperaturesreach-23°C
(-10°
F)orbelow.
Forbestresults,plugtheheaterinatleastthreehoursbeforestarting
thevehicle.Usingtheheaterforlongerthanthreehourswillnotharm
theengine,sotheheatercanbepluggedinthenightbeforestartingthe
vehicle.
WARNING: Toreducetheriskofelectricalshock,donotuse
yourheaterwithungroundedelectricalsystemsortwo-pronged
(cheater)adapters.
Guarding against exhaust fumes
Althoughodorlessandcolorless,carbonmonoxideispresentinexhaust
fumes.Takeprecautionstoavoiditsdangerouseffects.
WARNING: Ifyoueversmellexhaustfumesofanykindinside
yourvehicle,haveyourauthorizedMazdadealerinspectandfix
yourvehicleimmediately.Donotdriveifyousmellexhaust
fumes.Thesefumesareharmfulandresultinaccidentordeath.
