Whentheengineiscool,wrapathickclotharoundthecoolant
pressurereliefcaponthecoolantreservoir(anopaqueplastic
bottle).Slowlyturncapcounterclockwise(left)untilpressurebegins
torelease.

Stepbackwhilethepressurereleases.
Whenyouaresurethatallthepressurehasbeenreleased,usethe
clothtoturnitcounterclockwiseandremovethecap.

Fillthecoolantreservoirslowlywiththepropercoolantmixture(see
above),towithinthe“coldfillrange”orthe“coldfull”levelonthe
reservoir.Ifyouremovedtheradiatorcapinanoverflowsystem,fill
theradiatoruntilthecoolantisvisibleandradiatorisalmostfull.

Replacethecap.Turnuntiltightlyinstalled.(Capmustbetightly
installedtopreventcoolantloss.)
Afteranycoolanthasbeenadded,runtheengineforafewminutesto
mixthecoolant.Checkthecoolantconcentration.Makesuretheengine
isoffandcoolbeforeremovingthecoolantpressurereliefcap(see
precedingstepsoncapremoval).Checktheconcentrationperthe
CheckingEngineCoolantsection.Iftheconcentrationisnot50/50
(protectionto–34°F/–36°C),drainsomecoolantandadjustthe
concentraction.Itmaytakeseveraldrainsandadditionstoobtaina50/50
coolantconcentration.
Whenevercoolanthasbeenadded,thecoolantlevelinthecoolant
reservoirshouldbecheckedthenextfewtimesyoudrivethevehicle.If
necessary,addenough50/50concentrationofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertobringtheliquidleveltotheproperlevel.
Ifyouhavetoaddmorethan1.0liter(1.0quart)ofenginecoolantper
month,haveyourdealerchecktheenginecoolingsystem.Yourcooling
systemmayhavealeak.Operatinganenginewithalowlevelofcoolant
canresultinengineoverheatingandpossibleenginedamage).
Recycled engine coolant
Notallcoolantrecyclingprocessesproducecoolantwhichmeets
Mazdarecommendcoolants.Useofarecycledenginecoolant
whichdoesnotmeettheMazdarecommendedcoolant,mayharm
engineandcoolingsystemcomponents.
Alwaysdisposeofusedautomotivefluidsinaresponsiblemanner.
