TractionControlOperation
Thetraction controlsystemmayactivate ondryor
roughroadsorunderconditions suchasheavy
acceleration whileturningorabruptupshifts/downshifts
ofthetransmission. Whenthishappens, areduction in
acceleration maybenoticed, oranoiseorvibration may
beheard.Thisisnormal.
Thetraction controlsystemispartofthe
StabiliTraksystem.Tractioncontrollimitswheel
spinbyreducing enginepowertothewheels(engine
speedmanagement) andbyapplying brakestoeach
individual wheel(brake-traction control) asnecessary.
Ifcruisecontrolisbeingusedwhenthesystem
activates, theStabiliTraklightwillflashandcruise
controlwillautomatically disengage. Cruisecontrolmay
bereengaged whenroadconditions allow.SeeCruise
Controlonpage47.
Thetraction controlsystemisenabledautomatically
whenthevehicleisstarted. Itwillactivate andthe
StabiliTraklightwillflashifitsensesthatanyofthe
wheelsarespinning orbeginning tolosetraction
whiledriving. Iftraction controlisturnedoff,onlythe
brake-traction controlportionoftraction controlwill
work.Theenginespeedmanagement willbedisabled.
Inthismode,enginepowerisnotreducedautomatically
andthedrivenwheelscanspinmorefreely.Thiscan
causethebrake-traction controltoactivate constantly.
StabiliTrakmayalsoturnoffautomatically ifit
determines thataproblemexistswiththesystem.
Iftheproblemdoesnotclearitselfafterrestarting the
vehicle, seeyourdealer/retailer forservice.
