LowerAnchors
TheLATCHsystemholdsachildrestraint during
drivingorinacrash.Thissystemisdesignedtomake
installation ofachildrestraint easier.TheLATCH
systemusesanchorsinthevehicleandattachments
onthechildrestraint thataremadeforusewiththe
LATCHsystem.
MakesurethataLATCH-compatiblechildrestraint is
properly installed usingtheanchors, orusethevehicle's
safetybeltstosecuretherestraint, following the
instructions thatcamewiththatrestraint, andalsothe
instructions inthismanual.Wheninstalling achild
restraint withatoptether,youmustalsouseeitherthe
loweranchorsorthesafetybeltstoproperly securethe
childrestraint. Achildrestraint mustneverbeinstalled
usingonlythetoptetherandanchor.
Loweranchors(A)aremetalbarsbuiltintothevehicle.
TherearetwoloweranchorsforeachLATCHseating
position thatwillaccommodate achildrestraint with
lowerattachments (B).
InordertousetheLATCHsysteminyourvehicle, you
needachildrestraint thathasLATCHattachments.
Thechildrestraint manufacturer willprovideyouwith
instructions onhowtousethechildrestraint andits
attachments. Thefollowing explainshowtoattacha
childrestraint withtheseattachments inyourvehicle.
Notallvehicleseatingpositions orchildrestraints have
loweranchorsandattachments ortoptetheranchors
andattachments.
