Torelease,pressandholdthebutton(2),pullthehandleupslightly,
thenpushthehandledown.
Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesurethatthe
gearshiftissecurelylatchedinP(Park)(automatic
transmission)orin1(First)(manualtransmission).
Iftheparkingbrakeisfullyreleased,butthebrakewarninglamp
remainsilluminated,thebrakesmaynotbeworkingproperly.
Seeyourauthorizeddealerassoonaspossible.
TRACTION CONTROLி (IF EQUIPPED)
YourvehiclemaybeequippedwithaTractionControl௢system.This
systemhelpsyoumaintainthestabilityandsteerabilityofyourvehicle,
especiallyonslipperyroadsurfacessuchassnow-orice-coveredroads
andgravelroads.Thesystemwillallowyourvehicletomakebetteruse
ofavailabletractionintheseconditions.
DuringTractionControl௢operation,
thetractioncontrolactivelightwill
illuminate,youmayhearanelectric
motortypeofsoundcomingfrom
theenginecompartmentandthe
enginewillnot“rev-up”whenyoupushfurtherontheaccelerator.This
isnormalsystembehaviorandshouldbenoreasonforconcern.
Atspeedsbelow53mph(85km/h),boththeengineandthebrake
systemwillbeusedtocontrolwheelspin;atspeedsabove53mph
(85
km/h),onlyenginetorquereductionisused.WhentheTraction
Control௢systemisswitchedoff,thebrakingsystemwillstillbeusedto
controlwheelspinatspeedsbelow25mph(40km/h).
