thedriverandfrontpassenger.The
purposeoftheparkingfeatureisto
allowthedriverorpassengerto
reachthesafetybelt.Fastenyour
safetybeltasnormal,andthebelt
willslidetothefrontofthesteel
baralongthebottomofthedoor.
Pullthesafetybeltbackwardsto
parkforeasieraccessorexitfrom
therearseats.
Positionthesafetybeltheightadjusterssothatthebeltrests
acrossthemiddleofyourshoulder.Failuretoadjustthesafety
beltproperlycouldreducetheeffectivenessoftheseatbeltand
increasetheriskofinjuryinacollision.
Safety belt pretensioner
Yourvehicleisequippedwithsafetybeltpretensionersatthedriverand
frontoutboardpassengerseatingpositions.
Thesafetybeltpretensionerisadevicewhichremovesexcesswebbing
fromthesafetybeltsystem.Thesafetybeltpretensionerusesthesame
crashsensorsystemasthefrontairbagsupplementalrestraintsystem
(SRS).Whenthesafetybeltpretensionerdeploys,webbingfromthelap
andshoulderbeltistightened.RefertotheSafetybeltmaintenance
sectioninthischapter.
Thedriverandfrontpassengersafetybeltsystem(including
retractors,bucklesandheightadjusters)mustbereplacedifthe
vehicleisinvolvedinacollisionthatresultsindeploymentoffront
airbagsandsafetybeltpretensioners.

cm)safetybeltextensionassemblythatcanbeadded(partnumber

Useonlyextensionsmanufacturedbythesamesupplierasthesafety
belt.Manufactureridentificationislocatedattheendofthewebbingon
thelabel.Also,usethesafetybeltextensiononlyifthesafetybeltistoo
shortforyouwhenfullyextended.
