Seating and safety restraints
Thefactthattheairbagsdidnotinflateinacollisiondoesnotmeanthat
somethingiswrongwiththesystem.Rather,itmeanstheforceswere
notofthetypesufficienttocauseactivation.Sideairbagsaredesigned
toinflateinside-impactcollisions,notroll-over,rear-impact,frontalor
near-frontalcollisions,unlessthecollisioncausessufficientlateral
deceleration.

inflation.

theairbagisnotreplaced,the
unrepairedareawillincreasethe
riskofinjuryinacollision.
Determining if the system is  operational
TheSRSusesareadinesslightintheinstrumentclusteroratoneto
indicatetheconditionofthesystem.Refertothe          Air  bag readin   ess
sectioninthe   Instr umen  tation chapter.Routinemaintenanceoftheair
bagisnotrequired.
Adifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneormoreofthefollowing:
Thereadinesslightwilleitherflashorstaylit.
Thereadinesslightwillnotilluminateimmediatelyafterignitionis
turnedon.
Ifeitheroftheseindicationsoccur,evenintermittently,havetheSRS
servicedatyourdealershiporbyaqualifiedtechnicianimmediately.
Unlessserviced,thesystemmaynotfunctionproperlyintheeventofa
collision.
