IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftleveroutofP(Park)withignitionin
theONpositionandthebrakepedaldepressed:
1.
Applytheparkingbrake,turnignitionkeytoLOCK,thenremovethe
key.
WhenthekeyisintheignitionOFFposition,theautomatic
transmissionshiftlevercanbemovedfromtheP(Park)position
withoutthebrakepedaldepressed.Toavoidunwantedvehicle
movement,alwayssettheparkingbrake.
2.
Removetheprotectivecoverto
theinterlockaccessholeonthe
console.Insertascrewdriveror
similartooltoreleasetheinterlock.

Applytheparkingbrake,thenshifttoN(Neutral).
Startthevehicle.
Ifitisnecessarytousetheaboveproceduretomovethegearshiftlever,
itispossiblethatafusehasblownorthevehicle’sbrakelampsarenot
operatingproperly.RefertoFusesandrelaysintheRoadside
emergencieschapter.
Donotdriveyourvehicleuntilyouverifythatthebrakelamps
areworking.
Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesurethegearshiftis
latchedinP(Park).TurntheignitiontotheLOCKpositionand
removethekeywheneveryouleaveyourvehicle.
Iftheparkingbrakeisfullyreleased,butthebrakewarninglamp
remainsilluminated,thebrakesmaynotbeworkingproperly.
Seeyourdealeroraqualifiedservicetechnician.
