Starting out in third gear is help ful in snow y or icy
cond itions.
Light spark knock at low engine speed s is not harm ful to
you r engine. However, continu ed heavy spark knock at
high speed s can cause damage and shou ld be rep orted to
you r dealer immediately. Engine damage resu lting from
operating with a heavy spark knock may not be covered
by the new vehicle warranty.
While in the Autostick mode, Speed Control will only
function in third or fourth gear. Dow nshifting out of
third gear turns off speed control.

If the system detects powertrain overheating, the
transaxle will revert to the autom atic shift mode and
rem ain in that mode until the powertrain cools off.
Poor quality gasoline can cause problem s such as hard
starting, stalling and stu mble. If you experience these
problem s, try another brand of regu lar gasoline before 5
consid ering service for the vehicle.
If the system detects a problem it will disable the
Autostick mode and the transaxle will retu rn to the
autom atic mode until the problem is corrected .
Reformulated Gasoline
Many areas of the country requ ire the use of cleaner
burning fuel referred to as “Reform ulated Gasoline”.

econom y when using high quality regu lar
unlead ed gasoline with an octane rating of
Reform ulated gasolines contain oxygenates, and are spe-
cially blend ed to red uce vehicle emissions and improve
air quality.
