comes on while driving, turn off som e of the vehicle’s
electrical devices, such as the Fog Lights or Rear
Defroster. If the Charging System Light rem ains on, it
means that the vehicle is experiencing a problem with
the charging system . Obtain SERVICE IMMEDI-
ATELY. See you r local authorized dealer.
The red area of the scale show s the maxim um perm issible
engine revolu tions-p er-m inu te (rpm x 1000) for each gear
range. Before reaching the red area (over 6,500 rpm), ease
up on the accelerator to prevent engine over speed .

Turn Signa l Indica tors
The arrow s will flash in unison with the exterior turn
signal, when using the turn signal lever.
10. Malfunct ion Indica tor Light

This light is part of an onboard diagnostic
system called OBD that monitors engine and
autom atic transm ission control system s. The
light will illuminate as long as the key is in the ON
position, prior to engine start up. Approxim ately 15
second s later the MIL may blink for 10 second s then
resu me to full illumination. (See “EMISSION S IN-
SPECTION AND MAIN TENANCE PROGRAMS” in
the “MAIN TAINING YOUR VEHICLE” section of
you r Owner Manu al for more details). If the bulb does
not come on when turning the key from OFF to ON,
have the cond ition checked prom ptly.

This light show s that the head lights are on high
beam . Pull the turn signal lever tow ard the
steering wheel to switch the head lights from high or
low beam .

This light show s the statu s of the electrical
charging system . The light shou ld come on
briefly when the ignition is first turned on and rem ain
on briefly as a bulb check. If the light stays on or

start. The vehicle shou ld be serviced if the light stays on
