Tryingtostartthevehiclebypushingorpullingit
willnotwork,anditcoulddamagethevehicle.
Personalinjury,death,ordamagetothevehicle
canresultifyoutryjumpstarting    orusinga
batterychargeronthehighvoltagehybridbattery.
Useonlythe12-voltbattery   forjumpstarting and
charging.
1. Checktheothervehicle.  Itmusthavea12volt
batterywithanegative  groundsystem.
Notice: Iftheothervehicle's  systemisnota12-volt
systemwithanegativeground,bothvehicles    can
bedamaged. Onlyusevehicles  with12-voltsystems
withnegativegroundstojumpstartyourvehicle.
Ifthevehicle's  12voltbattery hasrundown,youmay
wanttouseanothervehicleandsomejumpercablesto
startyourvehicle.  Usethefollowing stepstodoitsafely.
2. Getthevehicles  closeenoughsothejumper
cablescanreach,butbesurethevehicles    arenot
touching eachother.Itcouldcauseaground
connection youdonotwant.Youwouldnotbeable
tostartyourvehicle,  andthebadgrounding  could
damagetheelectrical  systems.
{WARNING:
Toavoidthepossibility  ofthevehicles  rolling, set
theparkingbrakefirmlyonbothvehicles    involved
inthejumpstartprocedure.   Puttheautomatic
transmission inP(Park)oramanualtransmission
inN(Neutral) beforesettingtheparkingbrake.
Ifyouhaveafour-wheel-drive   vehicle, besurethe
transfer caseisinadrivegear,notinN(Neutral).
Batteries canhurtyou.Theycanbedangerous
because:
