ThelapbeltshouldbewornSNUGLYANDASLOWASPOSSIBLEOVERTHEHIPS.
Theshoulderbeltshouldbewornacrossyourshoulderproperly,butneveracrossthe
stomacharea.
Personswithseriousmedicalconditionsalsoshouldwearseatbelts.Checkwithyour
doctorforanyspecialinstructionsregardingspecificmedicalconditions.
qEmergencyLockingMode
Ifthebelthasfullyretracted,itwillalwaysbeintheemergencylockingmodeuntilyou
moveitintoautomaticlockingmodebypullingthebeltallthewayouttoitsfulllength.In
theemergencylockingmode,thebeltremainscomfortableontheoccupantandthe
retractorwilllockinpositionduringacollision.
Ifthebeltfeelstightandhinderscomfortablemovementwhilethevehicleisstoppedorin
motion,youmaybeintheautomaticlockingmodebecauseyouhavepulledthebelttoofar
out.Toreturntothemorecomfortableemergencylockingmode,waituntilyoucanstop
thevehicleinasafelevelarea,retractthebeltfullytoconvertitbacktoemergencylocking
modeandthenagainextenditaroundyou.
qAutomaticLockingMode
Alwaysusetheautomaticlockingmodetokeepthechild-restraintsystemfromshiftingto
anunsafepositionintheeventofanaccident.Togettheseatbeltintotheautomatic
lockingmode,pullitallthewayoutandconnectitasinstructedonthechild-restraint
system.Itwillretractdowntothechild-restraintsystemandstaylockedonit.Seethe
sectiononchildrestraint(page2-28).
