ExpendedSeatBeltPretensioners:
Useoffrontseatbeltswiththe
pretensionersystemexpendedis
dangerous.
Theseatbeltpretensionerswillonly
functiononce.Aftertheyare
expended,theywillnotworkagain
andmustbereplacedimmediately.
Iftheseatbeltpretensionersarenot
replaced,theriskofinjuryina
collisionwillincrease.
Foroptimumprotection,thedriverand
frontpassengerseatbeltsareequipped
withpretensionerandloadlimiting
systems.
Inmoderateorgreaterfrontalornear-
frontalaccidents,thefrontairbagand
pretensionersystemsdeploy
simultaneously.Thepretensionerstakeup
slackinthefrontseatbeltsastheairbags
areexpanding.Theseatbeltpretensioner
systemwillnotactivateiftheseatbeltis
notfastened,onlyyoucanbesureitis
wornproperly.Theloadlimitingsystem
releasesbeltwebbinginacontrolled
mannertoreducebeltforceonthe
occupant'schest.
AlwayshaveanAuthorizedMazda
Dealerinspecttheseatbelt
pretensionersandairbagsafterany
collision.Theseatbeltpretensioners
andairbagsmustbereplacedafter
anycollision,whichcausesthemto
deploy.
ModificationorTestingofthe
PretensionerSystem:
WARNING
Modifyingthecomponentsorwiring
ofthepretensionersystem,including
theuseofelectronictestingdevicesis
dangerous.Youcouldaccidentally
activateitormakeitinoperablewhich
wouldpreventitfromactivatinginan
accident.Theoccupantsorrepairers
couldbeseriouslyinjured.Never
modifythecomponentsorwiring,or
useelectronictestingdevicesonthe
pretensionersystem.
IncorrectPositioningoftheDriver
andFrontPassengerSeatBelts:
Incorrectpositioningofthedriverand
passengerseatbeltsisdangerous.
Withoutproperpositioning,the
pretensionerandloadlimitingsystems
cannotprovideadequateprotectionin
anaccidentandthiscouldresultin
seriousinjury.Wearseatbeltsonlyas
recommendedinthisowner'smanual.
