Ifthevehiclebatteryisdeadorthereis
amalfunctionintheelectricalsystem
andthehatchcannotbeunlocked,
performthefollowingmanual
procedureasanemergencymeasureto
unlockit:

Removethecapontheinterior
surfaceofthehatchwithaflathead
screwdriver.

Turnthelevertotherighttounlock
thehatch.
Placingluggageorothercargoontop
oftheluggagecompartmentcoveris
dangerous.Duringsuddenbrakingor
acollision,thecargocouldbecomea
projectilethatcouldhitandinjure
someone.Don'tplaceanythingontop
ofthecover.
Lever
Afterperformingthisemergency
measure,havethevehicleinspectedat
anAuthorizedMazdaDealerassoonas
possible.
Toclose,usebothhandstopushthehatch
downuntilthelocksnapsshut.Donot
slamit.Pulluponthehatchtomakesure
itissecure.
