TheBelt-Minderfeatureisasupplementalwarningtothesafetybelt
warningfunction.Thisfeatureprovidesadditionalremindersby
intermittentlysoundingachimeandilluminatingthesafetybeltwarning
lightintheinstrumentclusterwhenthedriver’sandfrontpassenger’s
safetybeltisunbuckled.
TheBelt-Minderfeatureusesinformationfromthefrontpassenger
sensingsystemtodetermineifafrontseatpassengerispresentand
thereforepotentiallyinneedofawarning.Toavoidactivatingthe
Belt-Minderfeatureforobjectsplacedinthefrontpassengerseat,
warningswillonlybegiventolargefrontseatoccupantsasdetermined
bythefrontpassengersensingsystem.
Boththedriver’sandpassenger’ssafetybeltusagesaremonitoredand
eithermayactivatetheBelt-Minderfeature.Thewarningsarethesame
forthedriverandthefrontpassenger.IftheBelt-Minderwarningshave
expired(warningsforapproximatelyfiveminutes)foroneoccupant
(driverorfrontpassenger),theotheroccupantcanstillactivatethe
Belt-Minderfeature.
WhentheBelt-Minderfeatureisactivated,thesafetybeltwarninglight
illuminatesandthewarningchimesoundsforsixsecondsevery
30
seconds,repeatingforapproximatelyfiveminutesoruntilthesafety
beltsarebuckled.
TheBelt-Minderfeatureusestwodifferentwarningchimes.Duringthe
firstminuteofactivation,thewarningchimewillsoundonceevery
second.Theremainingwarningchimeswillsoundtwiceeverysecond
whilethesystemisactivated.
