Crosstrafficalert(CTA)systemoperation
TheCTAsystemwarnsthedriverofapproachingvehicleswhenR
(Reverse)isselectedandthevehicleisbackingoutofafront-inparking
spot.ItsoundsaseriesoftonesandflashestheBLIS௡indicatorfoundon
theexteriormirroronthesideoftheapproachingvehicle.Additionally,
themessagecenterwilldisplayeither,VEHICLECOMINGFROMRIGHT
orVEHICLECOMINGFROMLEFTtowarnthedriverfromwhich
directionvehiclesareapproaching.
Thesystemisnotdesignedtopreventcontactwithothervehiclesor
objects.Thesystemisdesignedtoprovideawarningtoassistthedriver
indetectingvehiclesintheblindzones.Thesystemwillnotdetect
infrastructure,pedestrians,orbicyclists.
WARNING:Tohelpavoidpersonalinjury,NEVERusetheCTA
systemasareplacementforusingthesideandrearviewmirrors
andlookingoveryourshoulderbeforebackingoutofaparkingspace.
CTAisnotareplacementforcarefuldrivingandonlyanassist.
TheCTAsystemdetectsvehiclesapproachingupto45feet(14meters)
away(approximatelythewidthoffiveparkingspaces).Coverage
decreaseswhenvehiclesandobjectsincloseproximityblocktheCTA
sensors(refertofigureforapproximatezonecoverageareas[sensor
obstructedtovehicleonleft]).Backingslowlyfromtheparkingspot
inthesesituationshelpstoincreasethesensorcoverageand
effectiveness.
