WARNING:ThetirepressuremonitoringsystemisNOTa
substituteformanuallycheckingtirepressure.Thetirepressure
shouldbecheckedperiodically(atleastmonthly)usingatiregauge,
seeInflatingyourtiresinthischapter.Failuretoproperlymaintain
yourtirepressurecouldincreasetheriskoftirefailure,lossofcontrol,
vehiclerolloverandpersonalinjury.
ChangingtireswithTPMS
Eachroadtireisequippedwith
atirepressuresensorlocated
insidethetire/wheelcavity.The
pressuresensorisattachedto
thevalvestem.Thepressure
sensoriscoveredbythetireand
isnotvisibleunlessthetireis
removed.Caremustbetaken
whenchangingthetiretoavoid
damagingthesensor.Itis
recommendedthatyoualwayshaveyourtiresservicedbyanauthorized
dealer.
Thetirepressureshouldbecheckedperiodically(atleastmonthly)using
anaccuratetiregauge,refertoInflatingyourtiresinthischapter.

Thetirepressuremonitoringsystemmeasurespressureinyourfourroad
tiresandsendsthetirepressurereadingstoyourvehicle.Thelowtire
pressurewarninglampwillturnonifthetirepressureissignificantly
low.Oncethelightisilluminated,yourtiresareunderinflatedandneed
tobeinflatedtothemanufacturer’srecommendedtirepressure.Evenif
thelightturnsonandashorttimelaterturnsoff,yourtirepressurestill
