CHANGING THE TIRES
Ifyougetaflattirewhiledriving,donotapplythebrakeheavily.
Instead,graduallydecreaseyourspeed.Holdthesteeringwheelfirmly
andslowlymovetoasafeplaceonthesideoftheroad.
Note:Thetirepressuremonitoringsystem(TPMS)indicatorlightwill
illuminatewhenthesparetireisinuse.Torestorethefullfunctionality
ofthemonitoringsystem,allroadwheelsequippedwithtirepressure
monitoringsensorsmustbemountedonthevehicle.
Haveaflatservicedbyanauthorizeddealerinordertopreventdamage
totheTPMSsensors,refertoTirepressuremonitoringsystem
(TPMS)intheTires,WheelsandLoadingchapter.Replacethespare
tirewitharoadtireassoonaspossible.Duringrepairingorreplacingof
theflattire,havetheauthorizeddealerinspecttheTPMSsensorfor
damage.
WARNING:Theuseoftiresealantsmaydamageyourtire
pressuremonitoringsystemandshouldnotbeused.
WARNING:RefertoTirepressuremonitoringsystem(TPMS)
intheTires,WheelsandLoadingchapterforimportant
information.Ifthetirepressuremonitorsensorbecomesdamaged,it
willnolongerfunction.
Dissimilar spare tire/wheel information
WARNING:Failuretofollowtheseguidelinescouldresultinan
increasedriskoflossofvehiclecontrol,injuryordeath.
Ifyouhaveadissimilarsparetire/wheel,thenitisintendedfor
temporaryuseonly.Thismeansthatifyouneedtouseit,youshould
replaceitassoonaspossiblewitharoadtire/wheelthatisthesamesize
andtypeastheroadtiresandwheelsthatwereoriginallyprovidedby
Ford.Ifthedissimilarsparetireorwheelisdamaged,itshouldbe
replacedratherthanrepaired.
Adissimilarsparetire/wheelisdefinedasasparetireand/orwheelthat
isdifferentinbrand,sizeorappearancefromtheroadtiresandwheels
andcanbeoneofthreetypes:

T-typemini-spare:Thissparetirebeginswiththeletter“T”fortire
sizeandmayhave“TemporaryUseOnly”moldedinthesidewall
