Roadside Emergencies

Laythetireonthegroundwiththevalvestemfacingup.

Slidethewheelpartiallyunderthevehicleandinstallthewireand
retainerthroughthecenterofthewheel.

Turnthejackhandleclockwiseuntilthetireisraisedtoitsoriginal
positionunderneaththevehicle.Theefforttoturnthejackhandle
increasessignificantlyasthetirecontactstheframe.Thesparetire
carrierwillratchetwhenthetireisinthefullystowedposition.The
sparetirecarrierhasabuilt-inratchetfeaturethatwillnotallowyou
toovertighten.Ifthesparetirecarrierratchetswithverylittleeffort,
takethevehicletoyourauthorizeddealerforassistanceatyour
earliestconvenience.

Checkthatthetireliesflatagainsttheframeassembly.Pushagainst
thetiretomakesureitistightlyseatedunderthevehicle.Loosen
andretighten,ifnecessary.Failuretoproperlystowthesparetire
mayresultinfailureofthewinchcableandlossofthesparetire.
Repeatthistightnesscheckprocedurewhenservicingthesparetire
pressure(everysixmonths,perServiceMaintenanceSection),or
atanytimethatthesparetireisdisturbedthroughserviceofother
components.
Installthesparetirelock(ifequipped)intotheaccessholeabove
therearbumperwiththesparetirelockkey(ifequipped)andjack
handle.
WHEEL LUG NUT TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Retightenthelugnutstothespecifiedtorquewithin100miles(160km)
afteranywheeldisturbance(rotation,flattire,wheelremoval,etc.).
