Front passenger sensing system
Thefrontpassengersensingsystemwillturnoffthefrontpassenger’s
frontalairbagundercertainconditions.Thedriver’sfrontalairbagisnot
partofthefrontpassengersensingsystem.Thefrontpassengersensing
systemworkswithsensorsthatarepartofthefrontpassenger’sseatand
seatbelt.Thesensorsaredesignedtodetectthepresenceofaproperly
seatedoccupantanddetermineifthefrontpassenger’sfrontalairbag
shouldbeenabled(mayinflate)ornot.
Thefrontpassengersensingsystemisdesignedtomeettheregulatory
requirementsofFederalMotorVehicleSafetyStandard(FMVSS)208
andisdesignedtoturnoffthefrontpassenger’sfrontalairbagif:

thefrontpassengerseatisunoccupied,orhassmall/mediumobjectsin
thefrontseat,
thesystemdeterminesthatasmallchildispresentinarear-facing
childseatthatisinstalledaccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions.

childrestraintthatisinstalledaccordingtothemanufacturer’s

WARNING:EvenwithAdvancedRestraintsSystems,children

Whenthefrontpassengerseatisoccupiedandthesensingsystemhas
turnedoffthepassenger’sfrontalairbag,theЉpassengerairbagoffЉor
ЉpassairbagoffЉindicatorwilllightandstaylittoremindyouthatthe
frontpassengerfrontalairbagisoff.Whenthefrontpassengerseatis
notoccupied(emptyseat)orintheeventthatthefrontpassenger
frontalairbagisenabled(mayinflate),theindicatorlightwillbeunlit.
Theindicatorlightislocatedinthe
centerstackoftheinstrument
panel.ToconfirmtheЉpassairbag
lightЉisfunctional,itwill
momentarilyilluminatewhenthe
ignitionisturnedtotheonposition.
