Itcanbedangerous  togetoutofthevehicleifthe
shiftleverisnotfullyinP(Park)withtheparking
brakefirmlyset.Thevehiclecanroll.Ifyouhave
lefttheenginerunning,  thevehiclecanmove
suddenly.Youorotherscouldbeinjured.    Tobe
surethevehiclewillnotmove,evenwhenyouare
onfairlylevelground,usethestepsthatfollow.
Ifyouarepullingatrailer,seeTowingaTraileron
page 6‑42.
Itcanbedangerous  toleavethevehiclewiththe
enginerunning. Thevehiclecouldmovesuddenly
iftheshiftleverisnotfullyinP(Park)withthe
parkingbrakefirmlyset.And,ifyouleavethe
vehiclewiththeenginerunning,   itcouldoverheat
andevencatchfire.Youorotherscouldbe
injured. Donotleavethevehiclewiththe
enginerunning.

Holdthebrakepedaldown,thensetthe
parkingbrake.
Ifyouhavetoleavethevehiclewiththeenginerunning,
besurethevehicleisinP(Park)andtheparkingbrake
isfirmlyset.AftertheshiftleverismovedintoP(Park),
holdtheregularbrakepedaldown.Then,seeifyoucan
movetheshiftleverawayfromP(Park)withoutfirst
pullingittowardyou.Ifyoucan,itmeansthattheshift
leverwasnotfullylockedintoP(Park).
MovetheshiftleverintotheP(Park)position     by
pullingtheshiftlevertowardyouandmovingitup
asfarasitwillgo.

Turntheignition  keytoLOCK/OFF.
Removethekeyandtakeitwithyou.Ifyoucan
leavethevehiclewiththeignition   keyinyourhand,
thevehicleisinP(Park).
