Tire Pressure  Monit  oring Telltale  Light

the  vehicle’s hand  ling and  stop ping  ability.
Each  tire,   inclu ding  the   spare  (if  provid  ed),
shou ld  be  checked   monthly    when  cold   and
inflated  to the  inflation  pressu re recom mend ed
by  the   vehicle   manu factu rer  on  the   vehicle
Please  note  that  the TPMS  is not  a substitu  te for  prop er
tire  maintenance,   and  it  is the  driver ’s  resp onsibility  to
maintain  correct  tire pressu  re, even if und er-inflation   has
not reached   the level  to trigger  illumination   of the  TPMS
low  tire pressu re  telltale.

Your   vehicle   has   also  been   equ ipped   with   a   TPMS
malfunction   ind icator to  ind icate when  the system  is  not
operating   prop erly.  The TPMS  malfunction   ind icator  is
combined   with  the  low  tire  pressu re  telltale.  When  the
system  detects   a  malfunction,   the  telltale  will  flash  for
approxim  ately one minu te  and then  rem ain continu ously
illuminated  .  This  sequ ence  will  continu  e  upon   subse-
quent  vehicle  start-u ps as  long as  the malfunction   exists.
When  the  malfunction   ind icator  is illuminated  , the  sys-
tem  may not  be able  to detect  or signal  low  tire pressu  re
as intend ed.  TPMS malfunctions   may  occur  for a variety

that  illuminates   a low  tire  pressu re telltale  when   one or
more  of  you r tires  are  significantly   und er-inflated  . Ac-
cord ingly, when  the low  tire pressu re  telltale illuminates,
you shou ld  stop and  check  you r tires as soon  as possible,
and  inflate   them  to  the  prop er  pressu re.  Driving   on  a
significantly   und er-inflated   tire  causes  the  tire  to  over-
heat  and   can  lead   to  tire  failu re.  Und er-inflation   also
