MAINTAINING YOUR VEHICLE
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
check the  engine  oil level  is abou t 5 minu tes after  a fully
warm ed  engine  is shu t  off or  before starting   the  engine
after  it has  sat overnight.
The pages  that  follow  contain  the  req uired  maintenance
services  determ ined  by the engineers   who designed   you r
vehicle.
Checking  the oil  while the  vehicle  is on level grou nd  will
improve  the  accuracy  of  the oil  level read ings.  Maintain
the oil level  in the SAFE level  range. Adding   1 U.S. Quart
(0.95L) of oil when  the  level is at  the bottom  of the  SAFE
range  will resu lt in the  level being  at the  top of  the SAFE
range.
Besides  the maintenance    item s for which  there  are  fixed
maintenance   intervals,   there  are other  item s that  shou ld
operate    satisfactorily    withou  t   period ic   maintenance.
However,   if a  malfunction   of these  item s  does  occur,  it
could  adversely  affect the  engine  or vehicle  perform ance.
These   item s shou ld   be  insp ected   if  a  malfunction    is
observed   or suspected  .
CAUTIO N!
Engine Oil
Overfillin  g  or underfillin   g  the  cran kcase  will  cause
aeration   or  loss  of  oil  pressu re.  This  could   damage
you r engin e.
Checking   Oil  Level
To assu re prop er  engine  lubrication,   the engine  oil  must
be maintained    at the  correct  level. Check  the  oil level  at
regu lar intervals,  such  as every fuel  stop . The best time to
