STARTING AND OPERATING
The transm ission will downshift from Overd rive to the
most desirable gear if the accelerator pedal is fully
depressed at vehicle speed s above approxim ately 35 mph
(56
km/ h).
When To Use “TO W/H AUL” Mode — If Equipped
When driving in hilly areas, tow ing a trailer, carrying a
heavy load , etc., and frequ ent transm ission shifting oc-
curs, press the “TOW/ HAUL” switch. This will improve
perform ance and red uce the potential for transm ission
overheating or failu re due to excessive shifting. When
operating in “TOW/ HAUL” mode, the transm ission will
shift to direct gear and Overd rive will be enabled und er
stead y cruise cond itions.
TOW/H AUL Switch
The “TOW/ HAUL” light will illuminate in the instru -
ment cluster to ind icate when the switch has been
activated . Pressing the switch a second time restores
norm al operation. If the “TOW/ HAUL” mode is desired ,
the switch must be pressed each time the engine is
started .
