Usin g a tran smission flu id other than the manufactu r-
er’s recom mended flu id may cause deterioration in
tran smission shift quality and/or torq ue converter
shudder. Usin g a tran smission flu id other than the
manufactu rer’s recom mended flu id will resu lt in more
freq uent flu id and filter changes. Refer to Fluids,
Lubrican ts, and Genuine Parts for correct flu id type.
It is important that the prop er lubricant is used in the
transm ission to assu re optimum transm ission perfor-
mance. Use only manu factu rer’s recom mend ed transm is-
sion fluid, refer to Fluids, Lubricants, and Genu ine Parts
for correct fluid typ e. It is important that the transm ission
fluid be maintained at the prescribed level using the
recom mend ed fluid.
Special Additives
Autom atic Transm ission Fluid (ATF) is an engineered
prod uct and its perform ance may be impaired by supple- 7
mental additives. Therefore, do not add any fluid addi-
tives to the transm ission. The only excep tion to this
policy is the use of special dyes to aid in detecting fluid
leaks. In addition, avoid using transm ission sealers as
they may adversely affect seals.
