Engin e Oil Viscosity (3.7L/4.7L/5.7L Engin es)
SAE 5W-20 engine oil is recom mend ed for all operating
tem peratu res. This engine oil improves low tem peratu re
starting and vehicle fuel econom y.

Your veh icle is equipped with an advan ced tech nol-
ogy Diesel Engin e and an emission device design ed
to lim it Diesel Particu late Emission s from bein g
released into the atm osp here. The durab ility of you r
engin e and life expectan cy of this diesel particu late
filter emission device is high ly dependent on the use
of the correct engin e oil.
The engine oil filler cap also show s the recom mend ed
engine oil viscosity for you r vehicle. For inform ation on
engine oil filler cap location, see the “Engine Com part-
ment” illustration in this section.
NOTE: Vehicles equ ipped with a 5.7L engine must use
SAE 5W-20 oil. Failu re to do so may resu lt in improp er
operation of the Multiple Disp lacem ent System (MDS).
Refer to “Mu lti Disp lacem ent System ” in Section 5 for
more details.
In ord er to protect you r engine and emission system , use
only SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Engine Oil that meets
Daim lerChrysler Material Stand ard MS-11106, Merced es
Benz MB 229.31 or MB 229.51, and ACEA C3 qualified
engine oils.
Lubricants which do not have both, the engine oil certi-
fication mark and the correct SAE viscosity grad e nu m-
ber shou ld not be used .
