knock,mightbeheard.Iftheoctaneislessthan87,you
mightnoticeaheavyknocking noisewhenyoudrive.
Ifthisoccurs,useagasoline ratedat87octaneor
higherassoonaspossible. Otherwise, youcould
damagetheengine.Ifheavyknocking isheardwhen
usinggasoline ratedat87octaneorhigher,theengine
needsservice.
Ifthevehicleiscertified tomeetCalifornia Emissions
Standards, itisdesigned tooperateonfuelsthatmeet
California specifications. Seetheunderhood emission
controllabel.Ifthisfuelisnotavailable instates
adopting California emissions standards, thevehicle
willoperatesatisfactorily onfuelsmeetingfederal
specifications, butemissioncontrolsystemperformance
mightbeaffected.Themalfunction indicator lampcould
turnonandthevehiclemightfailasmog‐checktest.
