Howvarioussystemsinyourvehiclewere

performance andhowitisdriven.Forexample,your
vehicleusescomputer modulestomonitorandcontrol
engineandtransmission performance, tomonitorthe
conditions forairbagdeployment anddeployairbagsin
acrashand,ifsoequipped, toprovideantilock braking
tohelpthedrivercontrolthevehicle. Thesemodules
maystoredatatohelpyourdealer/retailer technician
serviceyourvehicle. Somemodulesmayalsostore
dataabouthowyouoperatethevehicle, suchasrateof
fuelconsumption oraveragespeed.Thesemodules
mayalsoretaintheowner’spersonal preferences, such
asradiopre-sets, seatpositions, andtemperature
settings.

Important: EDRdataisrecorded byyourvehicleonlyif
anon-trivial crashsituation occurs;nodataisrecorded
bytheEDRundernormaldrivingconditions andno
personal data(e.g.,name,gender,age,andcrash
location) isrecorded. However,otherparties, suchas
lawenforcement, couldcombinetheEDRdatawiththe
typeofpersonally identifying dataroutinely acquired
duringacrashinvestigation.
EventDataRecorders
ThisvehiclehasanEventDataRecorder (EDR).
ThemainpurposeofanEDRistorecord,incertain
crashornearcrash-like situations, suchasanairbag
deployment orhittingaroadobstacle, datathatwill
assistinunderstanding howavehicle's systems
performed. TheEDRisdesigned torecorddatarelated
Toreaddatarecorded byanEDR,specialequipment is
required, andaccesstothevehicleortheEDRis
needed.Inadditiontothevehiclemanufacturer,other
parties, suchaslawenforcement, thathavethespecial
equipment, canreadtheinformation iftheyhaveaccess
tothevehicleortheEDR.
